Hong Kong Trip

This album is a selection of pictures from my weekend trip to Hong Kong. We took a bullet train into Shenzhen, China, which is the city in mainland China that is directly adjacent to Hong Kong. We stayed there during the nights, and went to Hong Kong during the days. The city is sweet. It is a really interesting blend of western and eastern culture. The crazy part is that almost nobody speaks “Chinese” (ie mandarin) there, so any chinese that we picked up was totally useless. There are some pretty cool pics I think. Hopefully this album isn’t too big for you to get through, but I thought the city was really cool.

Our Bullet train at the station in Shenzhen the first really cool building in Hong Kong. There are a lot more of these to come. There is a mountain overlooking the city called the Peak. This Tram goes up to the top. It just keeps getting steeper. Yes, that really is as steep as it looks. Some locals said it’s really scary to ride. I was more afraid of the price; we walked Looking out from on top of the peak.

Causeway Bay Park That sign doesn’t point to the plane, train, or bus to Hong Kong. It actually point to Hong Kong. We walked across the border. I guess Modern Art doesn’t make sense in Asia either. This building looks like a giant ship sitting in the center of a city block. We took a ferry across the bay.

This is part of the skyline as seen from the bay. This is the beach where I got into an international swimming relay race in my jeans! The sun setting behind the mountains at Repulse Bay. People were throwing (trying to throw) coins into the mouth of this fish statue for good luck.
