Asheville, NC

I started out my summer travels with a trip down to Asheville, NC. My college friend Tim Langenberg is living and working there, so Anne Fennema and I decided to ride down with him one week, and visit for a while. We saw a lot of the town and surrounding area, and met a lot of his friends. I got some great pictures of our hikes, but never remembered to get pictures with his friends. But, in any case, here are some of the nature pics.

Photos:

Anne is modeling one of the first waterfalls we saw. Me walking on water The three of us in front of a big waterfall The water seems to shoot right out from the slope here. We were moving closer to get under the falls, but it was slippery and I fell on my butt.

And Cold! There were also some beautiful flowers along the way. Some of the falls could be ridden like water slides. We hiked around to get behind this one

A shot from behind the falls Nature. (Very artsy shot Anne) Anne and Andrew on the porch. We later had a memorial day picnic on this porch. It was sort of a hippie town, so seeing folk bands in the street was not uncommon. And there was no shortage of stores trying to capitalize on the hippie culture. This piece of scrap wood is for sale as a walking stick for $8.00 !!
